What a fine day for a vote for sanity in NC

I woke early this morning and decided I’d go out for some good coffee and a nice biscuit with ham.  I figured that since I plan to be in celebration mode all day, I might as well do it right.

Voting here in NC begins at 6:30 AM and I drove over to my designated polling place at about 6:10 AM.  The line was already more than 50 voters deep and I was SO happy to see that kind of turnout.  I stood in line and talked with others waiting patiently to do their civic duty.  The mood seemed pretty light and happy for a group of people that got up and out at that God-Awful-Cow-Milking hour of the morning.  It was exciting to feel that eagerness to vote all around.  Most were just making simple chit-chat together and others were talking candidates, etc.  In all, everyone just seemed glad to be there and happy to talk.  The weather was cooperating as it was warm.  It was a nice and respectful group.

I voted a straight Dem ticket, although in NC you have to fill in the box for each vote since the Repub’s in the State Legislature took the Straight Ticket option off of the ballot.  Wonder why?  Okay, not really.  I voted no on all the odious Constitutional Amendments that the right wants to push through.  My ballot completed, I received my I VOTED sticker and out the door I went.  As I went out, it was about 7:00 AM. There were over a hundred voters, by my count, in line in one little polling place in tiny Fuquay Varina, NC.  Oh, happy day!

Hope you all have good news to share today also.  I look forward to reading of your experiences.

VOTE!
